  • Participants

    30 healthy adults

    33 started and 30 finished. Aged 25 to 30, average age 27.

  • Duration

From 12 January to 15 April 2026, at home, every day.

Three kinds of results

Every number on this page carries one of these labels, so you always know where it came from.

  • Measured

A device measured it at the start and at the end. The number comes from the machine, not from how people felt.

  • Doctor-scored

The internist scored it in a medical interview, from 0 (none) to 4 (extremely severe).

  • Self-reported

Participants answered a questionnaire after 90 days. This is how they felt, not a lab measurement.

How the study worked

Four steps, 90 days

33 people started. All saw the internist on day 0, and 27 of them were also measured with devices. Everyone took one spoon a day for 90 days, then the same checks were repeated.

  1. 1

    Day 0

    Check-in

33 healthy adults. The internist interviews each one. 27 of them also have their skin and hair measured with devices.

    MeasuredDoctor-scored

  2. 2

    Days 1–90

    One spoon every morning

0.3–0.4 g in warm water before breakfast. Everyone keeps a daily diary of any reactions.

  3. 3

    Day 90

    Check-out

The 30 who finished see the internist again and fill in a questionnaire. 23 are measured again with the same devices.

Design

  • At-home use test under internist supervision, plus instrumental tests of skin and hair (report section 3).
  • Single group. Each participant is compared with themselves, day 0 against day 90. There was no placebo group, and the report describes no blinding.
  • Approved by the internal committee of the investigating centre on 9 January 2026. The report says it was conducted “in the spirit of” ICH E6 Good Clinical Practice (section 1.2).
  • The report follows cosmetic-study conventions: it cites EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 and Cosmetics Europe guidelines, and three of the four signatories are cosmetic-product researchers.
  • Product: Mountaindrop Himalayan Shilajit 100 g, sample received 5 December 2025. No lot number is given in the report.

Who could take part

  • Healthy adults aged 25 to 50 with Fitzpatrick skin phototype I–IV and non-sensitive skin, after signed informed consent.
  • 13 exclusion criteria, including: allergy to any ingredient; collagen, hyaluronan, vitamin C, E or D or other energy and concentration supplements; corticosteroids in the previous 3 months; serious heart, liver, kidney, digestive, metabolic or autoimmune disease; gallstones; pregnancy or breastfeeding; androgenetic baldness; taking part in another trial.
  • The people who took part were aged 25 to 30, average 27. 3 of 33 did not finish; the report gives no reasons.
  • The device group (27 people, 23 analysed) is a subset of the 33. Five people (subjects 5, 15, 23, 24, 27) had their final visit on day 93 instead of day 90.

Instruments and conditions

  • Cutometer MPA 580 (Courage + Khazaka): skin elasticity (R2, higher is better) and skin firmness (R0, lower is better).
  • Aramo ASW 300F (ARAM HUVIS) at 60× zoom: average hair count per cm² (higher is better).
  • Measurements taken at 20 ± 2 °C and 50 ± 10% relative humidity. A trained technician chose the study zones; the report does not name them. Nobody was blinded.

How results were judged

  • The lab counts a result as confirmed when more than 50% of participants show it.
  • Statistics are descriptive: mean, SD, median, min–max, % change and % of people who improved. The report gives no p-values.

Results · measured by devices

What the devices measured

Two machines, used on day 0 and day 90. 23 people have both measurements. These numbers come from the machines, not from how people felt.

Hair density

How many hairs there are in one square centimetre of scalp.

Measured
+9%

more hairs per cm² on average

Average hairs per cm²n = 23

Day 0135.9
Day 90148.3

23 of 23 people had more hairs per cm² on day 90.

How it was measured: the Aramo ASW 300F scalp camera magnifies a small area 60 times, and the result is given as hairs per cm².

Skin elasticity and firmness

How well skin springs back, and how firm it is.

Measured
22 of 23

improved on elasticity, and 22 of 23 on firmness

Elasticity (R2)higher is better · +4%

Day 00.851
Day 900.885

Firmness (R0)lower is better · −8%

Day 00.344
Day 900.318

How it was measured: the Cutometer uses gentle suction. R0 is how far the skin stretches (lower is firmer). R2 is how much of that stretch it recovers (higher is more elastic).

Report 978975-1/25/SLV/GDA/PK, section 6.4. 27 people entered the instrumental test; 4 (subjects 3, 11, 18 and 25) were excluded because their results could not be traced or they did not finish, so n = 23. SD of the change: hair 3.0, R2 0.029, R0 0.020. On each skin measure 22 of 23 people (96%) improved, but not the same 22: one person missed out on elasticity and a different one on firmness. For R2 the report counts subject 17 (0.934 → 0.935) as improved. The report gives only the direction of improvement for R0 and R2; the description above is how the Cutometer works. No significance tests were reported.

Results · scored by the internist

What the doctor scored

On day 0 and day 90 the internist asked about four symptoms and scored each from 0 (none) to 4 (extremely severe). Lower is better. The chart compares the same 30 people on both days.

Report section 6.2 and appendix 8.1. Table 3 counts all 33 people on day 0, including the 3 who later dropped out, and the 30 who finished on day 90. That is why general health issues appear to rise from 0.2 to 0.3 there; among the 30 who finished, the average was 0.27 on both days. The chart above uses those 30 people, recalculated from the individual scores in appendix 8.1. Columns show how many people had each score, day 0 → day 90. No one scored 4.

Not everyone improved

The general-health score rose for 5 people (subjects 13, 19, 27, 29, 32) and the fatigue score for 3 (subjects 19, 29, 33). Subject 14 had a severe (3) digestive score on day 90 while logging no reaction in the diary. The report does not assess whether any of this was caused by the product.

Report section 6.3, in the report’s order, n = 30. The 17 statements are the properties Mountaindrop asked the lab to test, all worded positively. Answers used a 4-point scale with no neutral option. We count the two favourable answers as agreement, which matches the report’s percentages (appendix 8.2); the report does not define it. Most agreement was a plain “yes”: “definitely yes” ranged from 3% to 23%. These are self-reported impressions, not measurements, and there was no placebo group.
